Getting started with VO2Coach (Athletes)

VO2Coach helps you follow your training plan, review your activities, and understand your performance over time.

As an athlete, your main goal is simple: train, review, and improve.
This guide will help you get set up and understand how to use the platform effectively.

Step 1: Access your account

Your coach will invite you to VO2Coach.

Once invited:

  1. Open the invitation link
  2. Create your account
  3. Log in to the app

If you have issues accessing your account, contact your coach first.

Step 2: Complete your profile

Your profile helps VO2Coach personalize your training and metrics.

Make sure to review:

  • Gender
  • Country
  • Date of birth
  • Sport(s)
  • Training experience (if available)

Keeping this information accurate improves training zones and performance insights.

Step 3: Connect your activities

VO2Coach works best when your activities are synced automatically.

If your coach enabled integrations:

  • Connect your activity platform (e.g. Garmin)
  • Allow access to your activities

Once connected, new activities will sync automatically after you finish a workout.

Tip: If an activity doesn’t appear immediately, give it a few minutes or refresh the app.

Step 4: Understand your training plan

Your coach assigns a training plan that may include:

  • Weekly structure
  • Daily workouts
  • Target intensity zones
  • Notes and instructions

When reviewing a workout, focus on:

  • What to do (type of workout)
  • How hard to go (zones or targets)
  • How long it should last

If something is unclear, ask your coach before the workout.

Step 5: Log and review activities

After completing a workout:

  • Synced activities appear automatically
  • Manually added activities appear immediately

For each activity, you can review:

  • Duration and distance
  • Pace, speed, or power (depending on sport)
  • Heart rate and zones
  • Basic performance metrics

This helps you and your coach understand how the workout was executed.

Step 6: Follow feedback and communication

VO2Coach includes tools for coach–athlete communication.

You may receive:

  • Comments on activities
  • Messages or reminders
  • Adjustments to your training plan

Checking feedback regularly helps you stay aligned with your coach.

Best practices for athletes

  • Sync activities consistently
  • Review workouts before starting them
  • Ask questions early if something feels unclear
  • Focus on trends over time, not single activities
  • Be honest with effort and execution

VO2Coach is a support tool, not a replacement for communication with your coach.

Common issues

I don’t see my activities

  • Check that your integration is connected
  • Wait a few minutes after finishing the activity
  • Refresh the app

My workout looks different from what I did

  • Small differences are normal
  • Focus on overall execution, not perfection
  • Discuss major differences with your coach

Metrics seem confusing

  • Ask your coach which metrics matter most for you
  • Use the glossary for basic definitions

What’s next?

  • Review your upcoming workouts regularly
  • Check feedback from your coach
  • Explore your activity history and progress

If you’re unsure about anything, your coach is your first point of contact.
